The out-of-pocket fee changes with the type of surgery. However, if you hold a concession card, we will do the Gap Cover Scheme.

What to expect after surgery?

  • For joint replacements, expect a loss of energy for 6 -12 weeks and to be using crutches for 6-12 weeks.
  • Swelling will range from 3-6 weeks, 6-12 weeks and 3-6months for a knee scope, knee replacement and hip replacement/ACL reconstruction, respectively.
  • For more information, consult your 'Operation Advice' sheets provided to you upon booking your surgery or call/email the rooms.

I've run out of pain relief. How do I get a new script?

  • Please call the rooms (3394 4228) to organise a new script. Be sure to quote the type of medication and the dosage.
  • Once a new script has been produced, we will fax a copy to your local pharmacy and post the original within a few days.

Operation Information

Dr Lane operates three days a week in the Greenslopes Private Hospital. Depending on your procedure, you may stay overnight, in ICU or only stay for the day. All procedures involve an out-of-pocket surgeon and anaesthetist fee that changes with the type of procedure. Common procedures include:

  • Total Hip and Knee Replacements
  • Knee Arthroscopy
  • ACL Reconstruction
  • Achilles Tendon Repair
  • Patello-femoral Reallignment
  • Fracture Fixation

A few days prior to your surgery, our rooms will call to advise of your admission and fasting times and ensure you have a post-op appointment scheduled.

We will do a health fund check to ensure you are eligible for the procedure. However, if you are unsure of the level of cover, please call your health fund and check before booking surgery.

Additionally, the hospital will contact you for admission details, and the anaesthetist's rooms will also call to arrange paperwork.
